Transylvania

About to go to bed on our second night in Romania. We arrived yesterday at the Transylvanian international Airport (not the grandest runway in the world, but it had runway, baggage check and passport control all in correct order) and caught two buses to Sighisoara, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler (it is said).
We got lost, got found, checked in. Then I went a-spooking on a most joyous errand: meeting Johanne at the bus station. Dayna, Johanne and I spooked about the citadel in the dark, under a full moon and found an old cemetery which we snuck into. We could hear bats and stray dogs and all around us was shadow with the occasional moonlit tombstone. It was sweet.
Today we spooked more, checked out some local markets which were pretty useless... They only sold fruit and vegetables! Where's the novelty t-shirts? The leather handbags? The posters of James Dean, Marylin Monroe and Elvis in a fifties maltshop?
After that it was onward to an oak sanctuary which was apparently "rescued" from becoming a Dracula theme park. We wandered in, found an old slab of concrete for a seat and dreamt about the cool rides we would be enjoying if the developers had their way.
Tomorrow we hope to see a torture museum. Look out for off-putting photos in the next entry!
